Missing the connection there. When I used to skate (in and out of that age range), there were only a very very select few that only cared about looking like a "skater" instead of actually skating. Which, btw, most skaters I see nowadays rock their sisters' jeans like the emo kids. And like car owners, there were a few different classifications of skaters: the tech kids (all about the flip tricks with little concern for doing anything over the height of another deck), the burly kids (didn't care much for anything more than basic flip tricks, as they were more concerned with large sets of stairs, huge gaps, long hand rails, etc), the longboarders, the skate park kids (would tear shit apart at skate parks with full pads, but were afraid to even ollie off a loading dock padless), and of course the posers (just wanted to wear baggy clothes and knit hats, usually had a board that was either brand new and unused or took someone's old setup so it looked like they actually used it). I know we're usually on the same page, so I'm legitimately curious as to what the skateboarder reference is.
